Offsite Activities

Offsite activities and schedules will be finalised in the coming weeks, but you can expect a wide range of activities to suit every interest, ability, and budget. Check out the list below for all of our offsite activities.

If you've missed the online registration cutoff date for Offsite Activities, just send us an email with your registration number and your preferences.

Please Note: " Day 1 of Offsite Activities" refers to the 6th Jan 2023.

Horsing Around ($180) - FULL

Have you ever wanted to learn how to ride a horse? Or perhaps you want to expand your knowledge!

Why not travel by horse back through the amazing Cradle country witnessing spectacular views of Mt Roland, all under the amazing guidance of Cradle Country Adventures.

This 2 hr ride includes a short lesson & a stroll around the property. All equipment provided.

Refunds not available after November 1st 2022.

Sky High ($475) - FULL

A trip to Tasmania is not complete without seeing a beautiful sunrise, and here at AIM we want to make it a little bit more unique. Why not take a flight in a Hot Air Balloon thanks to Hot Air Balloon Tasmania, & witness first light over our spectacular Meander Valley from the sky. Finish up with a breakfast looking over the amazing farm estate.

This activity will require participants to be awake and ready to leave camp at 3am - so be sure to take this into account when choosing your activities.

The White Waters of Tasmania ($85) - FULL

We love our rafting here in Tasmania so why not experience what all the hype is about?

Enjoy a day of rafting down the Mersey River getting wet but most of all having fun.

Wet-suits are provided but participants must have enclosed shoes capable of getting wet.

Shuttles to Town (FREE)

Free daily shuttle buses to Devonport, Ulverstone & Burnie.

Perhaps after a long 5 days of expeditions, you just want to sit back and relax in one of the beautiful NW coastal towns.

Why not see the platypus reserve in Burnie, visit the Mersey Bluff Lighthouse in Devonport, or just sit back and relax in one of the quiet cafes in Ulverstone?

Participants will be responsible for costs incurred while at these venues - only the shuttle bus to and from site is covered.

Tall Ship Sailing ($40)

Take a step back into the 1930s & come sailing aboard a restored tall ship, The Julie Burgess.

Spend a few hours sailing around & enjoy seeing amazing coastal views from the bass strait & Mersey river.

There will be morning and afternoon sessions available for this activity.

Refund available prior to 3rd January 2023. Partial refund available there after.

Gunns Plains Caves ($17)

Enjoy the stunning cave formations, rich colours & sparkling crystals at the Gunns Plains Caves.

You will be provided with a guided tour of these amazing formations explaining the history behind the cave. As you enter the cave, you will first descend down 54 concrete steps. After this, the tour is relatively flat but has some slight squeezes.

There will be morning and afternoon sessions available for this activity.

Day trip to Launceston ($10 bus fare) - FULL

Take the AIM bus to Launceston - Tasmania’s second-biggest city - & spend the day exploring.

Take a walk through the Cataract Gorge, go for a cruise along the Tamar River, or even see the towns monkeys in city park.

The $10 fee only covers the bus to and from Launceston. Participants will be required to pay for activities they undertake while in Launceston.

Hollybank - Treetops Adventure ($180) - FULL

Why not try crossing tree top bridges & flying through the trees on a zipline? Or maybe you just want to take the day to explore the Tasmanian wilderness from a vantage point? Then Hollybank - Treetops Adventure is the place for you! Check out their website.

Refund available prior to December 20th 2022. 50% refund there after.

Hiking - Cradle Mountain ($20) - FULL

A trip to Tasmania just has to include a visit to Cradle Mountain. This day walk will take you around the Dove Lake Circuit then have a picnic lunch sitting in the foothills of Cradle Mountain.

Hiking - Mount Roland ($10) - FULL

Experience amazing views of Cradle Country from the summit of Mt Roland.

This track isn’t for the faint-hearted; climb boulders and hike through the bush. We recommend hiking experience on this track. While it might be a bit of work, the views at the end are to die for!

Participants are recommended to be familiar with OAS Stage 6 in Bushwalking.

Wildlife of Tasmania ($30)

As you wander around the park the friendly kangaroos will come to pay you a visit. Sit down and enjoy these beautiful animals. Finish the trip off with a guided tour of the park, all thanks to our friends at Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary.

There will be morning and afternoon sessions available for this activity.

Tasmanian Devil Experience ($55) - - FULL

Spend the afternoon in the foothills of Cradle Mountain, hanging out with our famous Tasmanian Devils. Join the team at Devils @ Cradle for the midday feeding tour - the time at which the devils are most active (and most rowdy). Experience the amazing animals from inside their enclosure getting a 360 view.

Refund available prior to December 1st 2022.

Tasmanian Devil Workshop ($565) - FULL

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Spend the day learning all about the Tasmanian Devils from one of Trowunna's keepers. You will gain a greater understanding of the history, research & conservation of these amazing creatures. The workshop will include practical elements including the handling of Tasmanian Devils.

This activity will only be available for Day 1 of Offsite activities

Water Activities (FREE)

Tassie Scouts are known for their water activities, so why not experience what we do best. Jump aboard the Burnie shuttle bus and pay a visit to the AIM Water Activities Centre and have some fun sailing, rowing, and kayaking.

Participants will need to be able to swim 25m minimum.

Gone Fishing ($25)

Spend the afternoon wetting a line. Our fishing expert will lead you on a journey to one of his favourite shore-based fishing spots. All equipment included!

This activity will only be available on Day 1 of Offsite Activities

River Cruise ($115)

This cruise will make its way up the beautiful Leven River before stopping at the Leven Park Forest Reserve for a picnic lunch. Before heading back, you will go on a picturesque hike through the reserve.

Refund available prior to December 30th 2022.

Day trip to Stanley ($100) - FULL

Why not pay a visit to the quiet fishing town of Stanley? Take the chairlift to the summit of the infamous "Nut" and experience 360-degree views of Stanley & Circular Head. Experience some of the amazing food & drink options along the way.

Go Karting ($80)

Why not pop out to our friends at Kart Magic and show us what you're made of. Race around the track and see who takes to the podium! Includes 2 races (extra races can be purchased by on the day).

Mini Golf ($18)

Come play 18 holes at Devonport's best (& only) Mini Golf course situated on the banks of the Mersey River.

Bowling ($25)

Hang out and try for the perfect game at Devonport's own 10 Pin Bowling Alley, complete with some arcade classics.

North West Food Tour ($100) - - FULL

Tasmania is known for its amazing food scene, Why not check it out for yourself? Visit some amazing producers and experience paddock-to-plate the Tasmanian way.

Tastings are included.

Tamar Valley Wine Tour ($120) - FULL

Experience the best the Tamar Valley has to offer. Spend the day being guided around the valley, experiencing the many great local wineries the region has to offer.

Tastings are included.

North West Brewery Tour ($145) - - FULL

Our friends at The Brew Hop are taking you around the many local breweries of North West Tasmania so you can experience both their food & amazing drinks.

Tastings and Lunch are included.

Abseiling Course ($30) - FULL

Interested in completing units within your Cert III Outdoor Recreation or looking for an activity for your peak award?

Thanks to the Tasmanian Branch Training Team, AIM is excited to offer both Abseiling and Seamanship training courses that you can take back to your home branch. And they're both suitable for beginners!

Both courses are only available on Day 1 of Offsite Activities.

This abseiling course will require participants to complete some online learning prior to the day.

Refund available prior to December 17th 2022 due to e-learning requirements.

Seamanship Course ($50) - FULL

Interested in completing units within your Cert III Outdoor Recreation or looking for an activity for your peak award?

Thanks to the Tasmanian Branch Training Team, AIM is excited to offer both Abseiling and Seamanship training courses that you can take back to your home branch. And they're both suitable for beginners!

Both courses are only available on Day 1 of Offsite Activities.

Waterfalls of the North West ($20) - FULL

Tasmania has so many hidden gems. Jump aboard the waterfall bus and explore some of those amazing hidden gems.

This activity is only available on Day 2 of Offsite Activities.

4WD ($90)

Tasmania has some of the best 4WD tracks Australia has to offer and our team will lead you through some of Northern Tasmania's best. Jump aboard and experience what is beyond the blacktop.

Canyoning ($110) - FULL

Traverse the beautiful canyons of the North West through abseiling, caving & swimming, all thanks to our friends at Cradle Mountain Canyons.

Refund available prior to December 29th 2022.

Mountain Biking ($25)

They say Tasmania has some of the best tracks in Australia; come see why! Spend the afternoon riding part of the Wild Mersey Mountain Bike Trails. This activity is suitable for both beginners and experienced riders.

Abseiling ($30) - FULL

Do you love heights? If so, we have the activity for you! Abseil off a natural surface (while also witnessing amazing views). This activity is perfect for those participating in the abseiling course on Day 1.

This activity is only available on Day 2 of Offsite Activities.

Caving ($85) - - FULL

Does getting covered in mud sound like an activity for you? Why not come caving? We're heading out to Mole Creek to explore some of the amazing caves NW Tassie has to offer.

Participants are required to bring overalls or covering clothes that can get dirty. Abseiling will also be a part of this activity.
